17 of the best Disney Easter Eggs

It’s time for an Easter Egg hunt – the Disney way. Long before Taylor Swift was even a name people knew, the Walt Disney Company invented what we now know as the Easter Egg. Hidden secrets and jokes that Disney animators incorporate into films to add an extra touch of magic, finding Disney Easter Eggs has become a timeless tradition when watching every new animated film released by the studio.

To celebrate this bunny hopping holiday, we at Frozen Mouse Fever have compiled a list of some of our favourite Disney Easter Eggs, some from modern films and some from Disney Classics. So, let’s put on our detective hats, grab a bucket and start collecting those eggs!

1. Belle in The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Belle from “Beauty and the Beast” does live in France like Quasimodo, so it makes perfect sense that she would be reading a book in the village during the Hunchback’s ballad.

2. Scar in Hercules

Zazu did say in “The Lion King” that Scar would make a great throw rug and it seems like Hercules and Phil agreed.

3. Mrs. Potts and Chip in Tarzan

It’s unclear how exactly Mrs. Potts and Chip went from the Beast’s castle to a jungle in Africa, but at least they didn’t get completely trashed like the rest of the camp.

4. Lady and Tramp in One Hundred and One Dalmatians

It’s not surprising that when Pongo and Perdita asked for help spreading the word about their missing puppies, the kind-hearted Lady and Tramp would be the first ones on the streets helping to look.

5. Eugene and Rapunzel in Frozen

During Arendelle’s Coronation Day, Rapunzel and Eugene made the trip from Corona to see Elsa become Queen. It seems almost inevitable that her and Anna would become the best of friends.

6. Mickey Mouse in A Goofy Movie

Powerline is the greatest pop star of our generation and even the Mouse that started it all agrees. Not sure why Mickey wouldn’t help Goofy get his son Max tickets though.

7. Dumbo – The Cameo Elephant

Decades after flying in the circus, Dumbo’s clearly still a household name with toys made in likeness featured in both “Lilo & Stitch” and “The Great Mouse Detective”.

8. Sebastian in Aladdin

Poor Sebastian always finds himself in precarious situations involving food. The crab almost becomes food for the Genie after looking through his Royal Recipes cookbook and finding Sebastian hanging on his finger. Fortunately, for the second time in a row, Sebastian managed to escape unscathed.

9. Sleeping Beauty’s Spinning Wheel in Tangled

Clearly Mother Gothel had a back up plan if Rapunzel stopped following her manipulation as the Spinning Wheel that put Princess Aurora to sleep is part of the many trinkets Rapunzel’s “mother” collected for her over the years.

10. Mickey, Goofy and Donald in The Little Mermaid

It’s unclear how exactly Mickey, Goofy and Donald managed to breathe underwater, but who could blame them for wanting to see the Atlantica concert put on by Triton and his daughters up close.

11. Baymax – Mr. Camouflage

Photo: Walt Disney Animation Studios

Maybe it’s his fluffy white form, but Baymax from “Big Hero Six” has popped up in unique forms in some of Disney’s latest films like “Frozen II” and “Moana”. Whether it’s a snowman sculpture or coconut creation, Baymax is clearly the king of camouflage.

12. Pinocchio in Tangled

While we’re not sure if Pinocchio got turned back into a wooden boy or if Geppetto made extras, but the puppet has become merely a prop in the Snuggly Duckling.

13. Peg, Jock Trusty and Pongo in Oliver & Company

Photo: Walt Disney Animation Studios

“Oliver & Company” saw the return of a few Disney dogs during Dodger’s anthem, “Why Should I Worry?”. Clearly these dogs have no worries as their owners took them on vacation to New York.

14. Prince Hans in Big Hero Six

Photo: Walt Disney Animation Studios

It looks like Prince Hans gets himself into trouble wherever he goes. Anna’s ex-beau from “Frozen” clearly broke a few more hearts and committed more crimes in San Fransokyo. Some guys never learn.

15. Jose Carioca in Alice in Wonderland

Photo: Walt Disney Animation Studios

The Brazilian Parrot from “The Three Caballeros” was called to Jury Duty in Wonderland for Alice’s trial. With his slick and debonair personality, you know he was able to sway the rest of the jury to side his way.

16. Stitch in Treasure Planet

Photo: Walt Disney Animation Studios

Little Jim Hawkins may grow up to be a grand adventurer, but as a child, he’s just like the rest of us 90s and 2000s kids who desperately wanted a stuffed Stitch toy on our shelves.

17. Mulan in Lilo & Stitch

Photo: Walt Disney Animation Studios

Mulan is one of Disney’s greatest heroines, so it makes perfect sense that a headstrong girl like Lilo would have a poster of the Princess Warrior on her wall.
