Mickey and Minnie and the greatest love stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars

Valentine’s Day – the day to celebrate love and affection. And if there is one thing Disney knows how to do, it’s tell a picture perfect love story. In fact, some may argue that Disney has become synonymous with storybook romances that we all strive for but will never realistically achieve. “The Fairytale Romance” might just be that, a fairytale, but we all must admit that we still swoon over so many of our favourite Disney couples to this day.

What’s great about Disney romances is how much they have evolved and grown over the years. Not every couple follows the simplistic formula set by Snow White and her Prince. Overcoming obstacles and seeing the person behind the glitz and glamour is what new age Disney romances are all about now, and with the addition of Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar, the title for greatest Disney love story is something even Cupid would have trouble identifying. Alas, we at Frozen Mouse Fever knew deep down in our hearts that these were THE ultimate Disney couples.

14. Anakin and Padme

The only couple on this list who experienced a soul-crushing ending, Anakin and Padme were never meant to get a happily ever after, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t rooting for them regardless. Besides his mother, Padme was the first person Anakin truly cared for and was his last cling to humanity before succumbing to the dark side. Neither could fully live without the other and their love for each other never waivered until the very end.

13. Peter Parker and MJ

Young love is truly a beautiful thing. There have been many incarnations of this Spider-Man romance, but this MCU version is definitely the most innocent and simplistically sweet. What started off as a weird friendship turned into crushes that neither wanted to admit. It took multiple date attempts in Europe and MJ finding out Peter was Spider-Man before the two could finally share their first kiss. Talk about a super romance!

12. Cinderella and Prince Charming

Snow White may be the first Disney princess, but it was Cinderella who set the standard for what a fairytale romance has become known to be. A kind young lady who is overworked and mistreated, gets her day in the spotlight – leading her to meet her one true love, who just so happens to be a Prince. It may no longer be “with the times”, but it’s still secretly the romance we all wish for.

11. Wall-E and Eve

Loneliness is tough, especially on a barren planet. So it’s understandable when compact droid Wall-E, meets Eve for the first time, he’s instantly smitten. Wall-E’s attempts at winning over the high-tech robot is the most heartwarming thing and when Eve finally shows Wall-E some affection back, it’s clear these two are meant to be. This is a romance that tugs at the heartstrings and arguably rivals the emotional depths of “The Notebook”.

10. Wanda and Vision

When you’re two of the most powerful, but also the most underrated Avengers in the game, it’s hard not to fall in love with one another. Both (physically) introduced in “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, Wanda and Vision’s connection didn’t sizzle until they began living in Tony Stark’s headquarters together. While it’s unclear what exactly is going on currently in “WandaVision”, one thing is crystal clear; these two love each other more than anything.

9. Pongo and Perdita

A doggy meet-cute that will never be matched, Pongo and Perdita are soulmates through and through. Pongo was so sure Perdita was the one for him that he made sure his owner fell in love with hers, enabling them to raise a heap of little ones together. They are the perfect pups and the perfect parents, and they always find time for a little romance even with 99 kids to raise. Talk about relationship goals.

8. Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter

Every hero has someone they are fighting for and for Captain America, that person, no matter how much time passes, is Peggy Carter. When Steve was a skinny nobody who got picked on by everyone, Peggy was one of the few people who saw something special in him. And when he became a superhero, she was right there by his side, fighting the bad guys. It took them many, many years to reunite and share that dance, but for a love story as grand as Steve and Peggy, it was all worth it.

7. Carl and Ellie

Crying just thinking about these two. While we only got to see these two together for a little over 10 minutes, Carl and Ellie pack all the feels in such a short period of time. Bonding over their love of aviation and adventures as children, Carl and Ellie had a dream to visit Paradise Falls together, but life kept getting in the way. Despite that, their love never waivers even after Ellie’s death. It’s a love story that tears your heart out in a million pieces.

6. Han Solo and Leia Organa

There is no pairing as iconic in the galaxy than that of Han Solo and Leia Organa. Enemies turned lovers in a matter of mere minutes, Han and Leia didn’t get off on the best foot when his “rescue” of her from the Empire didn’t live up to her standards. That meet-cute, led to an endless amount of entertaining bickering and back and forth banter that was all a facade, hiding their deep love for each other. A first-kiss has never been more epic!

5. Aladdin and Jasmine

Not even “The Bachelor” can outdo the first date these two shared. Aladdin promised to show the locked away princess a whole new world, but little did either of them know that their worlds would be forever changed after meeting each other. Secrets and lies could have been the downfall of their early relationship, but Aladdin and Jasmine managed to move past all that and put all their differences aside to be together. Seriously, how can you not love these two?

4. Mickey and Minnie

Photo: Walt Disney Animation Studios

The original one true Disney pairing. The mouse that started it all has had Minnie by his side for most of his existence, and it’s hard to imagine it any other way. From every mishap and wacky adventure, Mickey and Minnie have stuck by each other through thick and thin, and it’s good to know that loyalty is truly the foundation that love is built upon. 87 years strong folks, talk about a golden couple!

3. Rapunzel and Eugene

Photo: Walt Disney Animation Studios

Rapunzel and Flynn/Eugene represent the new-age Disney romance, a long-lasting love between equals that still manages to make all our hearts pitter patter like we’re in middle school again. What started out as a mission for Rapunzel to achieve her dream and see the floating lanterns and Flynn to get out of paying his debts, turned into an adventure that would lead them both to find out that the true dream was finding each other. With a love song so pure (At Last I See The Light), this romance is just so beautiful.

2. Belle and Beast

Photo: Walt Disney Animation Studios

It’s a tale as old as time. Smart girl who dreams to be elsewhere ends up being held prisoner in a castle with a cursed beast who needs to find his one true love to be his princely self again. It sounds weird when you say it out loud, but somehow Belle and the Beast make their love story so effortlessly beautiful. She brings out the human in him and he makes her feel special for all the right reasons. It’s the greatest (human) love story Disney has ever gifted us.

1. Lady and Tramp

Photo: Walt Disney Animation Studios

They may be dogs, but it’s hard to think of any Disney romance more iconic than Lady and Tramp. He’s the dog from the wrong side of the track and she’s a pampered house-trained pup with a heart of gold. Like every perfect love story they teach each other so much throughout their journey, and when they share that bowl of spaghetti, our hearts are officially melted. Lady and Tramp will forever be our Disney OTP. #TrueLoveDoesExist
